Artist Statement

Before throwing things away, whether it is cardboard, an old garment, hangers, an electronic device, etc., I can't help asking "can I make something with this?" Thus, a series of faces from hangers, "reject if popped up"(Orangewood Series) featuring baby bottles filled with discards like razor blades, cigarette stubs, candles, condoms, etc. and the award-winning "woman warrior" with her glass jar head filled with birds sitting on Hoover vacuum shoulders, breasts of scrub brushes and limbs of truck air filters.

I enjoy the process of deconstructing and preparation. The result: a roomful of bags of washed yarn from deconstructed sweaters, stacks of metal discs from old hard drives, assorted hardware, leather and other wonderful items just waiting for their next incarnation.
